About the Journal

Aim and scope

Revista Română de Biblioteconomie și Știința Informării=Romanian Journal of Library and Information Science (RRBSI) - ISSN 2559-5490, ISSN-L 1841-1940 is a biannual, peer-reviewed and open access journal, edited since 2005 by Romanian Library Association.

RRBSI seeks to publish original articles on all aspects of library and information science. Review articles, perspectives, opinions, and commentaries, as well as book reviews are also welcomed. Given the similar history and development of libraries in Southeastern Europe, the journal is focused on publishing studies regarding the theory and practice of librarianship in the countries pertaining to this geographical area. However, this approach is not exclusive, other topics being also covered.

RRBSI is included in the fulltext databases EBSCO Library & Information Science Source (starting with iss. 4, 2010) and Central and Eastern European Online Library (CEEOL) (starting with iss. 1, 2005) and is indexed in European Reference Index for the Humanities and the Social Sciences (ERIH PLUS), Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), Directory of Open Access Scholarly Resources (ROAD) and Information Matrix for the Analysis of Journals (MIAR).

Peer review process

Manuscripts submitted to RRBSI through Open Journal System are initially reviewed by the Editors, who analyze whether the Author Guidelines was respected, the subject of the article fits the editorial policy of the journal, the text is written in correct English and decide accordingly if the article will be rejected or it will be accepted for peer review.

RRBSI uses a double blind peer review process. Each paper will be reviewed by two specialists in library and information science. If the conclusions of the reviewers are different, the final decision will be taken by the Editors. The identity of the author(s) and reviewers will be protected.

Each submitted manuscript is evaluated on the following basis:

  • the originality of its contribution to the field
  • the coherence of its analysis
  • its ability to communicate to readers (grammar and style)

After the peer review, the article will be either:

  • accepted without changes;
  • accepted with conditions (the author(s) will be asked to make some minor or major changes);
  • rejected.

The expected time for evaluation of manuscripts is six to eight weeks from the date of receipt.

Processing charges

The journal does not ask for submission or article processing charges (APCs).
